Susan H. Eiland M.D.

Dr. Susan Eiland, MD
Dr. Susan H. Eiland provides comprehensive and compassionate eye care, including both surgical and medical treatment, for a wide variety of eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and dry eyes. She received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, and medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine. Her Ophthalmology Residency was completed at the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Eiland serves as the Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Vincent’s Birmingham campus and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the UAB Department of Ophthalmology at the Callahan Eye Foundation, where she has served as past president of the medical staff. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology, the Medical Society of the State of Alabama, and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
She lives in Birmingham with her husband and their pets. They have two grown children.
Amanda L. Dinsmore, MD
Dr. Amanda L. Dinsmore was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. After completing a double major in Spanish and Latin American Studies at Emory University, she went on to study at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine where she graduated cum laude in 2013. While in medical school she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, received the Outstanding Patient Communication Award, and the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement presented by the American Medical Women’s Association. She completed her Ophthalmology residency training at the University of Colorado in Denver and is happy to return home to join Dr. Eiland’s practice. 

Dr. Dinsmore provides patient-centered comprehensive eye care specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the eye. She manages a wide variety of eye diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, macular degeneration, refractive errors, and uveitis. She is also trained in advanced surgical techniques such as pterygium surgery, eyelid surgery, and small-incision and laser-assisted cataract surgery (including toric and multifocal lenses). 
In her free time, Dr. Dinsmore enjoys cooking, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her husband, daughters, and dogs.
Lynne S. Stevens, OD
